Restaurants
Eating out in York is probably easiest for those looking for the more up-market, fine dining end of the market. Although there are a number of pubs serving food, and of course the traditional English tearooms, choices are more plentiful for those looking to spend a little more and enjoy more exotic or unusual dishes.
The Biltmore Bar and Grill opened last year on Swinegate in the city centre, and offers a choice of grills and drinks in the bistro downstairs or a more classical menu upstairs on the mezzanine. Housed in a desanctified church and yet decorated in a modern, chic style, the interior is impressive and unusual. Prices are cheaper than one might expect, but still a little above the odds. Call 01904 610 075 to reserve a table.
