Rotherham
Restaurants
A number of new outdoor cafes are planned for Rotherham town centre, as part of the regeneration project known as ‘Rotherham Renaissance’. Until the completion of this project, there is still plenty of choice for eating out around Rotherham: from up-market restaurants and bistros, to fast food chains and family-run cafes.
The Good Restaurant Guide currently recommends three restaurants in Rotherham, all of them restaurants within hotels: The Crown Restaurant, the Swallow Hotel and the Regency Restaurant.
The Crown Restaurant, in the Consort Hotel on Brampton Road, offers a reasonably priced menu and high quality, British and international food. The restaurant seats up to eighty people, and is available for private hire. To make a booking, call 01709 530 022.
The Regency Restaurant, based in the Carlton Park Hotel on Moorgate Road, serves modern European food with international influence. Prices are a little higher than average, but the restaurant has received rave reviews for its choice, quality and décor. A pergola and terrace are available for outside dining, and a refurbished dining room indoors. A full vegetarian menu is available, and specials are listed over the weekend.
The Swallow Hotel on West Bawtry Road serves English cuisine at an average price of £25 per head.
New eating establishments in the town include Café Noor on Wellgate. A halal sandwich shop, serving breakfasts and other snacks, Café Noor is open seven days a week and seats up to sixty customers. The café also provides an outside catering service and takeaway.
Café Thai on Corporation Street is open six days a week (closed Monday) and serves authentic Thai cuisine. The café also provides a takeaway service. China Town, on Cross Street is a Chinese restaurant, open seven evenings a week from 5pm. A takeaway and delivery service is available; please call 01709 532 143 to order.
