Rotherham
Nightclubs
Rotherham has a relatively large number of nightclubs, given its town status, and many of the clubs have been – or are currently being – refurbished to entice more weekend tourism to the town.
Liquid and Diva is the result of a £3.5 million investment. The club reopened in 2005, and now presents live artists and both resident and visiting DJs. The club opens Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, delivering the latest chart music, dance tunes and R’n’B. The refurbished club has comfortable seating and chillout areas, a shiny white dancefloor, and state of the art lighting effects and visuals above the dancefloors.
Liquid and Diva is based on Main Street in Rotherham. Clubbers must be over 18 to get into Liquid, but a minimum of 25 years old to get into Diva. For more information, contact the club on 01709 558 344.
Escape Bar and Nightclub on Ship Hill was formally known as Storm Nightclub, but is now under new management and has been completely refurbished. International DJs play in the club’s three rooms, presenting the latest commercial dance and pop, and there are usually special offers on drinks and cocktails. The club is currently open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with plans afoot to open on Sundays.
The Underground Nightclub on Domine Lane plays speed garage and funky house, and is open four nights a week. On Fridays and Saturdays, entry is free and there are plenty of cheap drinks. There are four resident DJs and one guest. On Mondays and Thursdays, entry is £3 but all drinks cost £1, making for another cheap night out.
Just around the corner is Club Envy on Corporation Street. The club reopened in April 2006, and prides itself on offering a wide range of music to suit a wide range of tastes. Envy is open four nights a week, from Thursday to Sunday, presenting pop and party tunes, classic retro, dance and R’n’B, and more.
