Halifax

Nightclubs

Halifax’s nightlife is largely limited to pubs and bars – of which there are plenty. There are few nightclubs in the town, but the small selection still has something to offer most clubbers, including a town centre branch of the Flares chain.

Coliseum and Maine Street is the largest club and entertainment venue in Halifax, presenting dance, R’n’B and party tunes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Situated in the heart of the town, on Commercial Street, the bar is ideally located for access to most of the pre-club pubs and bars in town. For those celebrating special occasions, contact the club on 01422 342 962 beforehand to hear about the special offers available.

The Tube nightclub is based in Southgate House, in Wards End, and open Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm to 5am and 6am (respectively), with free entry before 11pm. The club’s separate bar area is open from 7pm until 6am, with a vast selection of draughts, bottles, cocktails and wines available, and a chillout area with black leather sofas and ambient lighting.

House music DJs present ‘Nameless’ every Friday night, ‘Retro’ on the first Saturday of the month, ‘Release’ on the second, ‘Residents Special’ on the third and ‘Funky Dorey’ on the last. Tickets for ‘Retro’ range between £8 and £12.

Club décor is 70s-influenced, designer-kitsch, with disco balls and poles for pole-dancing. The dance floor is large and decorated with lasers, scanners and mood lights. Upstairs is the VIP suite, which anyone can hire but which has seating for only twenty. There are televisions, music and plush couches, with table service on offer. For more information regarding upcoming events or hiring the VIP suite, contact the manager on 07920 533 595.

Acapulco nightclub is on Waterhouse Street in the town centre. Affectionately known to locals as ‘Acca’, the club presents mainstream dance and house music Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The club is renowned for its drinks offers, with all drinks 75p before 11pm and £1 afterwards. The first two hundred people into the club on Fridays and Saturdays win a free champagne reception. Contact the club on 01422 366 505.

The Tramshed Zoo Bar is an alternative/rock club on Lord Street. The club is currently closed, pending a license review. It is not yet known whether the club will be reopening. In the event that it does, staff can be contacted on 01422 350 260.
