Bradford

Restaurants

Bradford is home to hundreds of restaurants, cafés and takeaways, and its city centre certainly has a wide variety from which to choose, including half a dozen award-winning establishments.

Weaver’s describes itself as ‘a restaurant and bar with rooms’, and is located in the Haworth area of the city, best known for its Bronte connection. The restaurant has been recommended by The Good Food Guide, AA, Michelin and Hardens for the high quality and variety of its traditional and contemporary British cuisine. There is a set price menu, a lunch menu and an evening menu for diners to choose from, as well as three rooms available to book. Contact the restaurant on 01535 643 822.

The Box Tree Restaurant, in nearby Ilkley, was awarded a Michelin star for its unusual selection of French-inspired contemporary dishes.

Bradford’s ‘Curry Mile’, though not as well known as Manchester’s, is home to more than twenty Indian and Asian-influenced restaurants and takeaways. Owing to a large Kashmiri community in the city, Bradford’s Kashmiri restaurants are some of the best in the North.

The Kashmir restaurant, on Morley Street, is widely regarded as the city’s best. Covering two floors, the restaurant is richly decorated with a wide, tiled staircase and historical art works adorning the walls. Prices are very low, the service is welcoming and the restaurant has received particular praise for its chicken dishes. A bar is open in the evenings. Call 01274 726 513 to make a booking.

Mumtaz Paan House and Anam’s are very popular Indian restaurants and both located on Great Horton Road. The former has been recommended by the Good Food Guide for the outstanding quality of its dishes.

In 2004, Kipling’s was awarded the ‘Best in Britain Award’ by a customer vote. This Indian restaurant is located in a quaint, white building on Harrogate Road, not far from the city centre. The owners pride themselves on a warm and friendly service, and unusual Indian-inspired dishes with exotic spices and traditional recipes. The restaurant’s chef has also been recognised as the ‘Bradford Chef of the Year’. Vegetarian dishes and a children’s menu are available, and there is a takeaway service. To reserve a table or order takeaway, contact the restaurant on 01274 622 332.
